Factoring
Post your rule for group factoring here. Let's play a game. Write one line of the rule and let your classmates build on it. I'll start. Multiply a and c terms of the quadratic expression.
You multiply a and c to find the middle term. Find two factors of ac that has a sum of B. Ex. 48x^2 + 46x + 5 48 times 5 = 240 Factors of 240 Factor - Sum 1 times 240 - 1 + 240 = 241 2 times 120 - 2 + 120 = 122 3 times 80 - 3 + 80 = 83 4 times 60 - 4 + 60 = 64 5 times 48 - 5 + 48 = 53 6 times 40 - 6 + 40 = 46 Another way is to divide the product of a and c divide by any number then add the quotient by the number dividing. Quick way of finding the middle term ex. 240/6 = 40 40 + 6 = 46 Mark Soriano

ReplyDeleteSince Mark wrote more than one line of the rule i cannot build on the rule.

Mark one line and one line only!! Simon repost on Monday please.
ReplyDeleteYou multiply a and c to find the middle term. Find two factors of ac that has a sum of B.
ReplyDeleteEx. 48x^2 + 46x + 5
48 times 5 = 240
Factors of 240
Factor - Sum
1 times 240 - 1 + 240 = 241
2 times 120 - 2 + 120 = 122
3 times 80 - 3 + 80 = 83
4 times 60 - 4 + 60 = 64
5 times 48 - 5 + 48 = 53
6 times 40 - 6 + 40 = 46
Another way is to divide the product of a and c divide by any number then add the quotient by the number dividing. Quick way of finding the middle term
ex. 240/6 = 40 40 + 6 = 46

My line is find two factors of ac that has a sum of b. I just the rest of tge stuff to explain
ReplyDeletemark soriano
much better. Thanks Mark.
ReplyDeletemultiply a and c, then yoou must find two numbers that add up to equal b
